The short version
We do not sell your data, and we do not build advertising profiles about you to sell to anyone. We collect the minimum needed to run Roar, and you can export or delete it any time.
What we collect
- Account โ when you sign in with Google or GitHub: your name, email, and avatar.
- Profile โ your handle, home region, and bio.
- Content & activity โ your posts, replies, likes, follows, charity votes, disputes, and uploaded images.
- Payments โ handled by Stripe. We never see or store your card number.
- Technical โ IP address and request logs, used for security and rate-limiting.
How we use it
To run the service, fact-check posts, attribute donations to your region, prevent abuse, and keep Roar secure. That's it โ no behavioral ad targeting.
Who processes data for us
We use a small set of sub-processors strictly to operate Roar:
- Supabase โ database & image storage.
- Anthropic (Claude) โ fact-check analysis of post text. Per Anthropic's API terms, API inputs are not used to train models.
- Stripe โ payment processing.
- Upstash โ rate-limiting.
- Google / GitHub โ sign-in.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with advertisers or data brokers.
Your rights
You can download all your data or permanently delete your account from Settings at any time. Depending on where you live, you may also have rights under the GDPR or CCPA to access, correct, or restrict processing of your data โ email us to exercise them.
Cookies
We use only essential cookies (a secure session cookie to keep you signed in). No advertising or third-party tracking cookies. See our Cookie Policy.
Retention & children
We keep your data while your account is active; deleting your account removes it. Roar is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 in the EU).
